The MCB crew just completed a 15' Crew Forward Rescue for Smithtown, New York Fire Department. Smithtown, located on Long Island, was first settled around 1665. Local legend has it that, after rescuing a native american chief's abducted daughter, Richard Smith was told that the chief would grant title to all of the land Smith could encircle in one day "on a bull". Smith chose to ride the bull on the longest day of the year (summer solstice), to enable him to ride longer "in one day". The land he acquired in this way is said to approximate the current town's location.
One reason that customers like to deal with our company is that we have a “no bull” approach when working to design a custom fire apparatus. There are some manufacturers that may try to sell a concept, or say yes to something, and then are unable to perform – leaving the customer dissatisfied.
At MCB we make every effort to fulfill a department's wide and sometimes “wild” list of options. There are times though, when we have to say “no”, and the customer is always receptive to hearing our “experienced” reasons why.
